Yeah, it seems like a bit of a weird product for us to carry, but besides being a neat toy (spent the last 5 minutes going around the office walking up to people and telling them their temperature), it can be a useful tool as well.

The advertised accuracy is about +-2C and it reads from -55 to 220 degress Celsius. Here’s a couple shots of me using it to measure the temperature off the back of my HD 2900XT (running Folding@Home) and the exhaust temperature from my power supply.

At $45 the price is right. You never need to burn yourself finding out if a chip is running hot again!

That thing is nice
I’m getting one for sure.
Thanks for the mini review
Nice. How does this device differ from the much more expensive, industrial models?
Less accurate, cheap plastic housing, and the biggest difference is the optics. This uses 1:1 optics which means that from 1″ away it measures a 1″ diameter patch. We carry a more robust SKU that features a handheld gun design and 12:1 optics so that means from a foot away you can measure a 1″ diameter patch.
At Pizza hut we use something similar to the pistol grip thermoworks ones, not as high quality though…Still love playing around with them though, lol
and it still shocks me to see that computer air cooled
Looks pretty interesting, what’s the heatsink you have on that computer?(reminds me of my maxorb)
The heatsink is an Intel box one for the QX9650. The CPU that’s in that rig is actually a Q6600 though.
That’s my work machine, so that’s why it’s air cooled.
