firmwares out, just loaded it, went smooth. Pain in the ass to do in Vista64 as you have to disable driver signing with an f8 reboot, and no XP 64 client. It's a two step process that must be done in order too.

Mouse updates first while plugged in with the power button switched to off. Second the charging dock is done. It was all integrated and step by step, and fortunately went well despite vista64 bitching about driver signing along the way.

So far i put it on the dock and it starts charging quickly and immediately,

Just plugged it in cabled, and the charging indicator came up predictably and quickly, none of the eratic behavior I noticed before.

So far so good, will have to see how it holds up over longer testing.

Yeah I heard there's a new firmware coming too. It's out of my hands now, but honestly even with some charging weirdness, there's no reason you should be using it in wired mode if you remember to put it on the dock when it's not in use. This is one sick mouse!

*Update

My Mamba just dipped down to two bars, so I plugged it in wired, the charge indicator began flashing to indicate a charge, it has now stopped doing that and is acting kind of erratic.

I just turned it to the OFF position while on the cord, it is doing the charging animation again but still sometimes behaves erratically and shows three full bars, or one of the sensitivity red/green bar indicators. It also still works despite the switch being set to off in wired mode.

Based on what I have heard about the battery not fully charging and an upcoming firmware, I am quite suspicious that this is also related to that and needs to be addressed by Razer via firmware.

Hopefully the one I've read about does just that.

The Mamba has some charging issues that Razer is supposed to be releasing a firmware fix for next week. According to the manual it is very specific that the Mamaba *is* supposed to charge when plugged in in wired mode.

Perhaps this is related to it's other charging issues and will be addressed by the upcoming firmware. (supposedly others have found it will not take a full charge unless it is switched to the off position when put on the dock.)

Hey linus are plugged into a front case port by chance? This is really a silly thing that it doesn't charge when in use through the USB? Are you sure there is enough juice on the USB port your plugged into?

The mamba does charge off the USB port, but only when it's plugged into the dock.

The dock has no AC adapter.

I don't expect the power from a USB port to be able to charge the mamba's battery. However they really should have made that clear.

The X8 operates wireless 24/7, but can be charged through with the wire. In a way the X8's system is a bit better than that of the Mamba.
