Since the first time I saw a Clear CMOS button on the back of a motherboard I’ve wondered what happens when a user inadvertently bumps it while trying to plug in a USB humping dog or other accessory. Always the daredevil, I decided to try it.

The answer, at least on the Gigabyte EX58-EXTREME, is that nothing happens. My Steam chat and other activities were completely uninterrupted. So there.

Ahh… that’s why I got disconnected!
nice.
Good to know!
Haha- I dont think Ive had that happen before, But it must be nice to have it on the back- Is the gigabyte x58 the best? I see there still into there blue color, at least theres no orange, yellow and pink!
Yeah there was pink on the ES board, but it got canned fortunately.
It really disappoints me that all of the extreme overclockers are using ES boards that I’ve seen. Makes me wonder why Gigabyte is not handing out retail boards and what other changes have been made.
Never had a clear cmos button, always thought you would have to hold it for at least a few seconds due to its function. Especially the ones on the IO panel.
LOL … it would been funny if all of a sudden *POOF*
