Intel LGA1156 One Minute or Less

Posted by: Linus on 8th September 2009

I think I’m going to make this into a recurring theme for my Linus Tech Tips videos. It’s a bit of a challenge for me, and I think one of the biggest problems with videos and video reviews is how long they are, so I will work towards explaining things or doing things in one minute or less. Here’s the first one on the Intel Core i5 and P55 platform.

Intel Core i5 Overclocking Tutorial (NCIX Tech Tips #48)

I have to confess that doing a follow up to one of my most watched episodes ever was a bit of a daunting task. I’ve slaved away at this guide since I’ve had my hands on the appropriate hardware, and I think that it’s worlds better than the first one. We give some real settings that people can dial in and use as a starting point for their own overclocking efforts, and I think we’ve done a better job of keeping things accessible for people who are just starting out.

I really hope you enjoy the Core i5 P55 overclocking guide!

Corsair 8GB 1600MHz C9 DDR3 Dual Channel Memory Kit

Posted by: Linus on 1st September 2009

I realize there’s not a whole lot of intrigue as far as RAM products go, but I guess I wanted to show the new Corsair heatspreader design (looks really sharp as you’ll see in a sec) and it’s also the first i5 specific RAM kit that I’ve had the privilege of unboxing haha. 8GB of DDR3 1600MHz goodness! We also feature this kit in our upcoming Core i5 overclocking guide. Stay tuned.

It’s a bit of a challenge to try to find advantages to give the regular viewers who check out my blog, but maybe I’ll reveal the upcoming videos that you can look forward to once we’re done our Gigabyte P55 unboxing series. The next group of P55 boards coming in are going to be from eVGA, so I’ll be diligently unboxing all of those as soon as I can get my grubby hands on them. Stay tuned!!

Gigabyte P55-UD6 P55 LGA1156 Core i5 Motherboard Unboxing

This is our first ever episode filmed in Taiwan.

NOT.

Actually it’s just filmed on a giant world map that we found near our office in the area that represents Taiwan. I hope you enjoy my coverage of the Gigabyte P55-UD6 motherboard!

Well that was really embarassing. Yesterday when I meant to upload this video, I accidently uploaded one of the takes that I wrecked. It would have been fine except that while I was uploading I deleted all of the “bad” takes from my camera including the real good take. Oh well. I took some time today and not only re-shot the P55M-UD4, but also the rest of the Gigabyte line up. I’ll be releasing the videos day by day, so stay tuned.

I’ve also got authorization now to do a LOT more unboxing/showcase videos for my blog, so basically I’ll be opening up anything I can get my hands on for your YouTube viewing enjoyment!

MSI P55-GD80 P55 LGA1156 Core i5 Motherboard Unboxing

The response to these P55 unboxing videos has been tremendous, so I have a new goal. I’m going to do an uboxing of every P55 motherboard I can get my hands on in the weeks leading up to the P55 launch, and hopefully I’ll have them all done by about 1 week after the launch. Stay tuned for more first looks!

MSI P55-GD65 Base Clock Button Adjustment

Finally got permission to show something that I filmed a few days ago. Here’s me working on some overclocking testing on the MSI P55-GD65 motherboard. This button is pretty cool when you’re running benchmarks and you want to play around with the frequency. I haven’t tried OC Genie yet, but that’s coming next!

Video Blog Post – MSI P55-GD65 LGA1156 Motherboard

So I got a great package today… in the mail. Was pretty excited to open this and shot a quick video showing some highlights of this interesting new, unreleased product. This is completely unedited and just shot on my camera in video mode, so the quality kinda sucks. Sorry :p
