Today I have a look at another part of ASUS’ new P55 lineup featuring USB 3.0 and SATA 6Gb/s. This is a fully featured board including 16+3 phase power (which somehow equals 24 phase power) as well as support for SLI and Crossfire.

I’ve finally gotten around to taking a quick look at one of ASUS’ new P55 boards with USB 3.0 and SATA 6.0Gb/s. Basically not a whole lot has been updated except for those two MAJOR updates to the spec of this board. You can save yourself the trouble of watching if you already know what a USB 3.0 or SATA 6.0Gb/s port looks like.

Having a look at the entry level board from Gigabyte’s new P55A line up. No SLI and less robust power delivery are a couple of features missing on this board when compared against its big brother the UD4P.

USB 3.0 and SATA3 or SATA 6.0Gb/s are the big features on this new generation of boards coming out right now. Check out one of the best “bang for the buck” boards out there from Gigabyte.

This one was shot in an empty room in my house and I can see now that it’s uploaded the lighting isn’t quite there yet. I’ll do some more work on it next time to find an optimal place to shoot when I have to do videos from home. It’s tricky when I can’t do them outside, but I will have to find some solution for the winter time.

“EVO” is a new designation for ASUS. I remember it used to be so simple. There was “Product Name” and “Product Name Deluxe”. Sometimes there was a “Product Name SE”. Now it seems like they need to have 18 different suffixes to help users figure out their huge P55 product line. It makes me want to yell at their product management team, “IT’S ONE CHIPSET!!” Here’s the whole lineup:

P7P55D LE
P7P55D
P7P55D Pro
P7P55D EVO
P7P55D Deluxe
P7P55D Premium
P7P55D WS Supercomputer
Maximus III Formula

IT’S ONE CHIPSET!! 8 BOARDS! They don’t even have an mATX board! Gigabyte at least has that excuse for having 6 boards (two mATX, and distinctly different feature sets throughout). MSI seems to have the cleanest lineup with eVGA committing the “too many boards” sin as well…

The sun was bright. I know my sunglasses aren’t very cool, but it was either that or be all squinty. I’m taking Monday off so I had to shoot some unboxings at home or risk falling behind. I can’t believe how long it’s taking me to finish all of the P55 unboxings!!

Was waiting for a couple of co-workers so we could all go for nachos, and I’m standing there with the cameraman going “okay, well why don’t we just shoot a video”. Here’s what we ended up with.

I’ve realized now that this is going to be a lot of P55 unboxings. It’s okay. I’m game. I may actually still shoot one tonight in my PJs. We’ll see what happens. I tried to unbox the Raven 2 today, but it was a disaster. I couldn’t get the case open! I finally figured it out like 2 minutes later off camera, but I’ll have to fake it a little bit in my real unboxing video because I’ve actually opened it once already now (just like this one).

Gigabyte P55-UD3R P55 LGA1156 Core i5 Motherboard Unboxing

I had totally thought I was done with the Gigabyte P55 unboxing videos, but I wasn’t! I forgot this board was even coming out until I saw it in the warehouse on Friday before the long weekend. I took it with me to Seattle intending to actually shoot the episode while I was there, but it didn’t happen until I got home :(

Sorry guys!
