Acer Cathode Backlit

Posted by: on 26th June 2010

Mostly I just need this monitor for an episode of NCIX Tech Tips that I needed to shoot on Friday. BTW contrary to what I say in the video, this is not in any way “Olympic Edition”. The rings are just there because Acer is an Olympic sponsor…

Today I take you through the steps of upgrading the storage capacity of the ASUS TS Mini Windows Home Server. I also explore the internals of this device.

This point of this video is to find out how far SSDs have come since the first consumer grade SSDs were being released to the market. It really wasn’t that long ago, but SSD performance and reliability has improved by leaps and bounds in such a short time. It really makes you excited for what’s coming down the road.

Today I have a look at the little brother of the A70. This one has smaller fins, only one fan, and 3 heatpipes compared to 4 heatpipes on the A70

This is Corsair’s latest and (somewhat) greatest. It’s the greatest in their new series of air coolers, but I doubt very much that it beats out the venerable H50 water cooling unit. Either way if you want to save a few bucks or you’re not comfortable with liquid cooling, this looks like a very good alternative.

By request (one sent to my employer of all ways to get in touch with me) I’ve unboxed a couple of Cooler Master LED fans. Please enjoy responsibly.

Much ado has been made about the Sandforce controller. Here’s an unboxing of Corsair’s latest and greatest drive based on this exciting controller as a lead-in to an NCIX Tech Tips topic I’ll be doing on the subject!

This is a pretty unique product, and while it’s not the first of its kind that I’ve seen (Delta has been doing this for some time on their extreme performance fans) it’s the first one that I’ve seen that is quiet enough to be targeted at consumers.
